UK National Commission for UNESCO
The UK National Commission for UNESCO (UKNC) supports the UK’s contribution to UNESCO and brings the benefits of UNESCO to the UK. We are the hub for all UNESCO-related matters in the UK.
The UKNC is contracted by the UK Government Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to administer the Newton Prize.
The 2019 Newton Prize countries are China, Indonesia and the Philippines. Please use the links below to begin your application for the Newton Prize 2019.
The Newton Prize is a £1 million fund which recognises the excellent research and innovation the Newton Fund has invested in since its launch in 2014.
It celebrates the best partnerships between the UK and Newton countries and encourages new international collaborations to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

- Call for Part A applications - Monday 25 March
- Deadline for Part A applications - Friday 19 April (noon UK time)
- Applicants successful at Part A invited to submit Part B proposals - Friday 17 May
- Deadline for Part B proposals - Friday 14 June (noon UK time)
