The UK National Commission for UNESCO (UKNC) supports the UK’s contribution to UNESCO and brings the benefits of UNESCO to the UK. We are the hub for all UNESCO-related matters in the UK. The UKNC is contracted by the UK Government Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to deliver the Newton Prize.

In 2020, the Newton Prize is a £1.5 million fund which celebrates the world-class research and innovation the Newton Fund has supported since its launch in 2014. It enables international research partners to continue working together on areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet.
